Pride in the Park

At a meeting this evening, I got word that Six Flags America is doing Pride in the Park again.  Three years ago I attended one of these, and it was not a great experience, as my letters to Six Flags and to Metro Weekly explain.  However, this year I'm willing to try and give it another shot, because maybe, just maybe, if people would actually show up, invade the park, and show off their pride, it can be turned into a fun day, instead of an "oh hi, some people who got discounts showed up, that's nice." type of day.

Pride in the Park will take place on Sunday June 6, and discount tickets ($26 each plus one $5 online processing fee) are available to go to the park.  All you have to do is visit sixflags.com/america and enter the promo code CAPPRIDE (I tested this and it does work).  According to the site, they will be open from 10:30 AM until 9 PM, and the water park there is open from 11 AM until 7 PM.

I'm willing to try this again now because if enough of us show up and Six Flags tries to bury it again, well, they're going to have to face a lot of angry customers, power in numbers and all of that.

So something to consider for a Sunday afternoon, whether you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, or a straight ally.
