In yet another one of my busy weekends, I am currently at JH's house meeting a number of his relatives.
JH's bro graduated from college so family and friends are down here for a graduation party this weekend. I have already met a few of his relatives and they are a riot to hang out with as it is, but now there will be even more family and friends here. Last night I spent time watching the Orioles lose to the Red Sox along with telling dirty jokes and having beer of course. I crashed out downstairs in the study with JH since all of the "old people" (their quote) have taken the bedrooms, which is fine by me.
On top of that, it's JH's ten-year high school reunion today and he wants me to come along, so I also get to meet a number of folks that JH hung out with in high school. This should be rather interesting because I did not go to school in Maryland (though I did spend my early years here). For the record, this will probably be the only time I go to HS reunions because there is no way in hell that I am subjecting him (or myself) to my HS, but that is a story for another day.
I have to admit, I like hanging out with JH's family. I was nervous the first few times when it came to being around them because the last thing I wanted to do was give them a reason to dislike me. However, they have always made me feel welcome in their home and from what I have been told, they like me, so life is good here. I find that I can actually sit in and have a conversation with them or just kick back and watch the game and I don't feel so much like I'm imposing.
So anyway, it looks like it is going to be another great weekend. It certainly beats staying home, though anyone who knows me knows that I don't like to sit around and do nothing ;-)
