Disappointment and Hope

I received an E-mail today from the owner of Greenbelt Om. Since October has been a really slow month already, the studio is closed after this week. That's right, no more yoga for me at this point.

It sucks because even though I had just started, I was really getting into it, especially because I was learning something a bit different with each class. I also hate to see a small business struggle and end up going under, especially if they provice a good service. However, at this point life goes on, I will just have to sit back and see how this all shakes out with the situation, and see if I can find out where some of these teachers end up landing.

In the meantime, perhaps it is time to move to another part of my original plan for exercising and look into taking up Shovelglove. At least a local hardware store here can get some business from me for it ;-)

Now for a bit of hope, at least for some of the folks who are younger than me.  One of the stories my priest told at last Sunday's sermon about stewardship and what St Georges means to some people had to do with one of the teenage parishioners.  He talked about hearing classmates at school use the word "gay" as an insult in various contexts, and how he would take them aside and ask them what their issue was because he had grown up knowing gay people in church, and there was nothing bad about them.

I swear I could have cried after hearing that story, thank God there are some young people who are finally figuring out that no, it's not right to be insulting, and that yeah, it's okay to say something about it to others when they are behaving badly.  I wish there had been someone like him around when I was in high school, but I didn't quite get that luxury.  Oh well, that's in the past.

I just hope he will be able to change a few minds and hearts for the better over the next few years.

  1. I don't know why you are taking Yoga classes.

We already know that you have the ability to put your ankles behind your ears.

    =P
